In a thrilling turn of events, the sequel to Shah Rukh Khan and Farah Khan’s iconic 2004 film Main Hoon Na is reportedly in the works. Multiple Indian sources confirm that the project is currently in the development phase at Shah Rukh’s production house, Red Chillies Entertainment.
According to an insider report from Pinkvilla, Farah Khan has already conceptualised a compelling idea for Main Hoon Na 2, which has garnered excitement from Shah Rukh. The two have a longstanding professional relationship, having collaborated on the hugely successful Om Shanti Om (2007) and Happy New Year (2014).
Sources indicate that Farah is working diligently on the screenplay with a team of writers, alongside Red Chillies’ creative force. However, Shah Rukh is said to be awaiting the final script before giving the green light, with a firm intention of not moving forward unless the narrative exceeds the bar set by Main Hoon Na. The first draft is expected by mid-2025, and only after its review will a decision be made on whether the sequel will move ahead.
Championing Pak-Indian friendship, Main Hoon Na saw Shah Rukh step into the shoes of Major Ram Prasad Sharma, a soldier tasked with uniting estranged families. The film blended comedy, drama, and action, while promoting themes of friendship, love, and national unity. Alongside Shah Rukh, the film featured an ensemble cast, including Sushmita Sen, Zayed Khan, Amrita Rao and Sunil Shetty.
The potential reunion of Farah and Shah Rukh would mark their fourth collaboration, continuing a decade-spanning partnership that has produced hits and earned a beloved place in Bollywood history. For now, though, both stars are keeping a tight lid on the project, with more details expected in the coming months.
As for Shah Rukh, his current focus remains on other major projects, including King, directed by Siddharth Anand, slated for a 2026 release, and Pathaan 2, which is still in the writing stage as part of YRF’s Spy Universe. Earlier, the veteran actor’s son Aryan Khan revealed the title of his directorial debut – also with Netflix – featuring none other than Shah Rukh himself. Called The Ba***ds of Bollywood, a video teasing Aryan’s entry into the industry was uploaded on Monday.
The video opens with Shah Rukh exhibiting a suave performance, only to be told by the purposefully concealed director to do several more takes.
What soon turns into a hilarious skit shows the King Khan riled up at the director and asking him if the set functions on his father’s reign. “Yes, it does,” Aryan confidently says, as he reveals himself to the camera.
Aryan, who was known to maintain a stoic persona in public, flashed a smile that became a greater highlight than his father’s presence. Netizens could only wonder if he was saving the bright grin for his big moment.
